After Marty McFly arrived into 2015, he witnessed “hoverboards” being used. Was this a far-fetched image made strictly for Hollywood?
With days to go before October 21st, Canadian inventor Catalin Alexandru Duru’s has created a man-carrying propeller-based hoverboard. In fact, he managed to travel a total distance of 275.9 m (905 ft 2 in).
In the incredible footage (above) Catalin reaches a height of 5 metres on his prototype hoverboard before eventually landing in the waters of Lake Ouareau in Quebec, Canada.
He claims that the machine, which he built and designed over the course of 12 months, can be used anywhere and can reach ‘scary heights’ which he would like to potentially explore in the near future.
Speaking of his achievement, he said: “I wanted to showcase that a stable flight can be achieved on a hoverboard and a human could stand and control it with their feet.”
It seems Hollywood did know exactly what to expect in 2015.
